They look fantastic! The fact that they are new old stock is nothing short of amazing...

Thank you, I am 110% happy with them.

They are a lot better than I ever hoped to find.

Regular cabs. The best looking trucks.

I took the engine over to my friends shop where we'll do the swap.
This is like the doctor letting you carry your new heart into the operating room. [emoticon]

This is who I bought the truck from and where we'll swap engines.

I checked inside all of the cylinders with a bore scope and this is what I found in #2. [emoticon] [emoticon]

And I was very pleased to see that it doesn't have flat top pistons.
These should be 10.5:1 compression like it had from the factory.

So far things are going great.

I rebuilt the carburetor yesterday that I'm going to run on the 410.
Its a Motorcraft 4300 from a 1974 Ford F-250 460, its 610 CFM.

I got my phenolic carb spacer too.

And my new Luk clutch finally arrived. Not so sure why it took soo long to get here.

I ordered the new flywheel the day I made the deal on the 410.
The 410 and 428 crankshafts (the same crankshaft) are externally balanced and require
different dampers and flywheels from all of the other Ford FE engines.

Getting close. Hopefully next week.

Tomorrow I start on the engine swap.
Kind of funny that the truck is a 1976 and has a 390 out of a 1966 Mercury and
its getting replaced with a 410 out of a 1966 Mercury.

Rods and mains 0.010 under. 0.0015" clearance.

The 1U verifies that's its a 410/428 crankshaft.

I am totally happy with everything.

The old 390 comes out this morning.

I'm doing the swap over at a close friend's place. He's lives 2 1/2 miles up the canyon and is my closest neighbor.
Both he and his wife are awesome people.

He pulled his fire truck and '72 Chevy short bed 4x4 out of the carport so I could work in there.

When I got there yesterday morning he had set up this work bench and had all kinds of tools already laid out for me.

Geof has a pretty cool old cherry picker too. [emoticon]

That's Geof standing in the middle with Brad Lovell. He joins in with the pit crew every time he gets the chance. This is what he loves doing.

This is Geof's truck, work in progress. It is powered by a healthy 1969 460.
He told me the only thing the engine lacks is a good intake manifold.

He told me he had been eyeing the Weiand Stealth.
He doesn't know it yet but his new manifold will be here Monday.

He is always doing something for someone. He is helping me big time with this swap.
I am looking forward to Monday.
