I see and know the appeal of tent camping. My family group would not have it so I am stuck in the trailer. Trade offs either way.

One of my fondest memories was spending the night in a tube tent while backpacking in the Sierras; pouring rain, lightening, and thunder. I dug my trenches well and managed to stay dry. Beautiful morning the following day. Now, 45 years later, I'm in a fifth wheel. Needs change.

Before I got married I would spend weeks on end on my dressed out Honda CB900C travelling the country with my tent, sleeping bag, cooler/backrest, and stove. I was totally happy with it and spend at least 3 weekends a month away from home. After marriage, add a wife and 4 daughters. A popup was a requirement. After the kids moved out, we switched to a TT and absolutely love it. We can be gone within an hour of deciding to camp and my 66 year old body loves the bed.

The last tent I slept in it was Olive Drab color; never again.
P.S. you might have to be a vet to understand :-)
