I bought this hitch and lost one of the L shaped retainers that holds the equalizer bars in place. Is there anything besides the original piece that could work? I Can't find a replacement for it at the stores.

Did you contact Blue Ox?
Etrailer seems to have them in stock:

Worst case a good machine shop should be able to fabricate one without a lot of difficulty...probably won't be as cheap though.

That's even easier. They aren't under any significant stress, so if they don't have them in stock, you could just get a piece of steel rod and bend it into an "L" and then drill a hold for the pin.
