just another reason to stall the H_ll out of California. This bill will band al small off road engines including portable generators for recreational vehicles. Meaning Motor homes and Fifth wheels. Target date July 2022.
Believe the recent baned on lawn mowers and yard tools has something with this bill that was just announced. Keep an eye on this bill.

Although the bill is problematic, it's not a simplistic as you indicate. It bans the SALE of certain small engines effective 2024 among other things. A simple Google search will yield the detail.

Where California goes, the rest of the nation follows. There will be realistic changes to the law as time goes by. The EPA mandated MPG laws were never set in stone. They changed to accommodate they industry as it developed. If a reasonable exchange, for say a forest workers chainsaw, cannot be found, it may be excluded at some point. The same may be done for RV generators. Some of the easier things they are trying to do away with are leaf blowers, lawnmowers, and weed-whackers. These can all be easily replaced with rechargeable units, in a non-commercial setting. Slowly this will work its way across the country, like it or not.

The ban will ONLY be in effect IF technology catches up. Currently, there is no viable non-IC generator technology, so unless that changes you will still be able to use your generators in California after 2024.
Some items like leaf blowers, already have viable non-IC alternatives so no biggy. Other items like chainsaws have alternatives good for personal use, but not for industrial use - there are caveats to the bill that will exempt industry from the ban until the technology can support the industry need.
This has already been discussed ad nauseam here. It isn't a big deal.
Bills like this are put in place to encourage new technology.

Battery (currently) powered leaf blowers are too weak and consume too much power for either large yards or commercial use. Not to mention how long it takes to recharge the batteries. If all you want to do is blow off driveways and porches great. Otherwise a 2 hour job may take 6 not counting recharging.
