I have the original Polar Cub 9200 and a Honda 2000 The key is letting the fan spin up to speed before turning the Cool settings on. Once the compressor kicks in I can run it on eco mode for 6 hours no problem

When I ran my Coleman mach 8 off the Honda 2K, I would make sure to switch refrigerator and hot water over to gas. the AC would start in East Carolina (sea level) even with generator on eco mode, but yes the generator might flash red on startup. I had my Coleman running on a wall thermostat so when it started you were starting both fan and compressor the same time.
the only thing that gave me problems was my VIP220 Dish receiver. IF I was running it off generator the receiver would reboot every time the AC started. so I used to run the receiver off a smaller AC inverter to eliminate the voltage drop during AC startup.
later I did get a Harbor Freight 3500 which was quieter than the honda (honda would be running higher RPM to produce power for AC to start/run than the Harbor freight so it was quieter).

I saw a video on Youtube where a guy ran a Pure wave DC inverter and a Honda 2000 parallel. (if you search far enough you will find it).
he had this setup so he could start his power saw inside his van.
Honda is known to run .2V higher than most other inverter generator and DC to AC inverters. But both will sync AC wave with each other.
when he started up saw the voltage would drop and DC inverter would use some battery to assist in the startup requirements of saw, but once saw motor was up to speed because the output of honda was a little higher voltage than inverter the generator would fully run everything.

If your convertor is putting out 55A at 12V, that's 660W on the DC side. If the AC side is 950W, that's a low efficiency of 69.5%. I question the 950 number. Did you see this in a spec sheet? Measure it?
The 290W difference would be dissipated as heat if the efficiency is really so low.
If I set the stat too low, my Polar Cub will ice up and stop cooling.

Glad I bookmarked it. The 950 was from the Progressive Dynamics website. Here is a link to it. It says efficiency >80%

The PD4655LIV for lithium batteries puts out 14.6 and not what the chart says.
And the Honda eu3000i weighs in at 130 pounds. I would like to also know if there is a lighter version.
And thanks for the comments about my wife. This is going to be a long winter of solitude. I miss her more than anything.
I ordered the Micro-air easy start this morning. Looks like a really good product. I wish I could go camping and sit and enjoy a stout cup of coffee in the Bigfoot. We really enjoyed it this summer.
Almost new to truck camping. Truck is a 2001 Dodge 3500 Dual rear wheel with a few performance mods. Camper is a 2005 Bigfoot 2500 9.6 with Lithiums. The trailer carries gear, one quad, two kayaks, two bicycles, and a 3700kw generator.

Even if it was lighter, it's still going to be a lot heavier than a 2200. I think it would be double the weight which is too much for most of us to move around very much.

Inverter/charger should automatically switch to battery power when generator voltage drops.
Some of them also can be programmed to max W draw from the shore power, what will be even better.
You program 2000W max draw and inverter/charger does the rest.
