Just thinking, Do you remember when everybody carried a pocket knife(pen knife)? There was always a need for one. I remember as an older teen that I had to have one, my dad always carried one, along with just about every other man older than me. Probably most younger folks don't even know what one is. Or if they do carry one they would probably be arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. Just reminiscing. Gary

My Dad always had one and I have owned them but frankly I can't think of any time where I was doing something and had to have one. Not sure exactly what has changed but I just don't need one so I don't carry one. I also hate having stuff in my pockets - so there's that. I do keep a folding knife in my truck. Camping seems to bring more of a need for them.

me as well. funny...when we toured the studios of QVC i was forced to surrender that most dangerous weapon before being allowed in the building. a few days later when we toured the Norfolk VA naval base i offered to surrender my knife bit was told toput it back in my pocket. go figure.

I have carried one as long as I can remember, and use it every day. I own at least 3 or 4, and we go to the knife store every time we go to the Smoky Mountains.

I've got a three inch Buck on each keychain, three vehicles. Can't hardly open a package anymore without one. Also have a 'regular' Buck in my truck, in the driver's well, and a K-bar in my camper. They open whatever I need whenever I need it.

Plastic packaging has worn out its welcome when you cannot get at its product. Never go anywhere without one to assist my fingernails. [emoticon]

Grew up on a dairy farm, and always carried a pocket knife for opening bales of hay, bags of fertilizer, etc. Would have never ever thought of carrying it to school or later in life to a bar or club. I can remember when it was legal to travel/fly with a pocket knife under 3” long. Still own a couple of nice pocket and fixed blade knives. Smokey Mountain Knife Company is always a great place to visit when in the area.

I remember very clearly my granddad and his friends siting around a big China Berry tree in his front yard. Everyone had a pocket knife and everyone was whittling.[emoticon]
