In order to NOT lose my investment on new bikes, can anyone recommend a 'camping trailer. approved bike carrier for 2 bikes?

Swagman. I've been using the same one for 16 years and 2 trailers.
I destroyed two other name-brand units before that (and ripped one bumper nearly off). They just couldn't hold up to the movement back there.

Not sure what kind of carrier but to avoid the bouncing it would be subject to on the back of trailer I would look at making a mount for the pin box, haul on the front of trailer.

X2 on the swagman. Easy to use, solid and doesn't scratch the bikes. I will say though I've had good luck with a fork mount in the bins where they are totally enclosed.

No matter what kind of bike carrier you use make sure it is mounted tight (no wiggle or slop) in the receiver tube.

I have the same Thule unit. I have used it on the back of two different 5ers for 12 years and it has proved to be flawless. I carry two Pedego Electric bikes and have done over 10,000 miles with no issues. As previous poster says the most important thing is to make sure all is tight where the rack enters the receiver.
I use one of these:
Hitch Clamp
In addition the Thule rack comes with a hitch pin that tightens up the sideways movement, as the pin threads into a threaded socket on one side.

I fabricated a receiver for our pin box and carry bikes up front, no bounce, smooth ride.

All very good info,I also have a Swagman RV Approved, a very well made bike rack. Not to hi-jack the thread but as a side note that may be helpful.
They bounce a lot and if the rack is not tight in the receiver that added movement only amplifies that bounce.Stressing not only the mounting point but also the bike rack.
I have tried almost every Anti Rattle device on the market, most have been no good or so complicated and cumbersome that they are useless. I have a whole tool box full of them.
Until I found the one at Hitch Rider. This will keep everything tight.
Their Hitch Vice is the best and easiest one I have come across and it really works.
