"Starting" at $70 per night. Local motels such as the Quality Inn, Comfort Inn, and LaQuinta are posting rates in the $70-$79 category.

Please understand that I am NOT proposing that a motel stay would be a better choice by any means, but where is the justification to spend the same money for a slab of concrete as for a decent motel room, that probably comes with a free breakfast to boot!??

Seems as though the popularity of RVing has prompted enterprising entrepreneurs to take the Disney approach and keep raising prices until attendance starts to drop.

Just seems lop-sided to me, that's all.

Unfortunately that's Econ 101. It's crazy that the demand keeps outpacing the supply so much.

Mostly what Jimmy Buffet does is license the word "Margaritaville". He's got some brick and mortar holdings, but Margaritaville packs a marketing wallop. Florida is being papered over with Margaritaville this n' that. Hell, the name has even been licensed to a cruise line that sails some raggedy old cruise ship on 2 day trips between West Palm Beach and the Bahamas.

Fresh coat of paint, new name, neon and pastel colors inside, Voila!

They just opened up the one in Pigeon Forge too. It's very nice really and not totally finished with the outbuildings and club house/lounge. Pricey? Not really considering the competition. I'll take my trailer to stay in any day over a hotel room.

^This!
Man, I know there are supply issues, but the profound stupidity of many, is astounding!

I really almost cannot wait for another recession.

If all you want is a concrete slab to park on, there are lots of places that will give you just that. This place purports to be more of an RV Resort, with amenities you won't get at an inexpensive hotel. Multiple pools, mini golf, basketball court, multiple dog parks, on-site bar & restaurant, etc.

Seems to be pretty popular, most dates in the near future are completely booked except for $200 "Motorhome Suites", (which as far as I can tell, is just a lakeside RV spot with a tiki hut.

That's more than I'd be willing to pay, but then I wouldn't use most of the amenities they advertise.
