I believe the reference is to the CATALYTIC CONVERTER, not electric converter (120 VAC to 12 VDC). Yep! I was definitely thinking electric!

Ford no longer has a contract with manufacturers for a replacement Cat, but they are made that fit the 2 valve V-10s but they are not tested for performance. The difference between 2 valve and 3 valve V-10s is the front end of the 2 valve has a tringle 3 bolt round hole flange, the 3 valve had an oblong 4 bold flange. There are about 4 exhaust manufacturers that make them for the 2 valve. Prices range from just over $500, to $1,100, they all appear to be the same.

Getting back to the original topic, I was curious as to the manufacturer for the frame of my Gulfstream Class A. It turned out to be a John Deere chassis. I had no idea that John Deere made a chassis, but the do for trucks and RVs.

They did years ago.
If I remember correctly, and I very well could be wrong, it was basically a rebadged Ford chassis.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

The John Deere chassis used a Ford 460 with carb & C6 tranny until 1990.
1991 had a EFI 460 & C6 tranny. 1991 was the last year for John Deer's class A chassis.
Freightliner is now the John Deere OEM parts supplier.

My motorhome is a 1987 with a 1986 driveline. I wish it had fuel injection, but the Holley 4-bbl works fine. The frame sure looks heavy duty, as it should since the vehicle weighs 11,100 pounds.
The 460 cranks 3,000 RPM at a little over 60.

Years back I had a 1991 Coachman Classic. It had a 460 ford. Performed well as long as all the spark plug wires were sound. Heat in the dog house was a bear. If memory serves….it was on an Oshkosh chassis.

Back when I had a v-10 F53 based motorhome, I found that parts listings for the
F-550 were equivalent. Many shops don't have references for F53, but it they plug in F-550, bingo !
