Exactly. I wasn't thinking of that en-route, but when we're at home prepping for a trip, the slides are out. We always bring the slides in to hookup because we have to level the FW to the hitch. Once it's hooked up and we need to do any other packing, we put the front landing gear down, level it hooked up, then bring the slides back out. It doesn't take much to level it in our yard.

Thank you! They call it a "cut and buff" paint job. No seams felt, and very $$$.

Well i am good a backing but I can't take credit for it that time!!! I have backed up this combo probably 20' at the most.
It was a pull thru spot.
I wasn't trying to be deceiving about the MC trailer being still hooked. It just was part of the do you disconnect discussion.

The reason for my post was that the OP asked about parking for an overnight stop, not an extended camp. I have been RVing for many years and most folks I know do not unhook when stopped for one night unless there are other reasons to do so as have already been mentioned in this thread. Our trailers floor plan lets us access all areas of the trailer and use all features with the slide all the way in. We travelled all over and rarely unhooked unless I wanted to get fuel at a particular location that was hard to get into with the trailer attached.
I am actually surprised at the number of you who do unhook almost every time you stop for a night.

Hey BarneyS, What Coach do you have that allows you so much access? It’s interesting when most do fifth wheel reviews they almost never shown with slides in. Knowing now there is no specific reason to unhook. I don’t quite understand why someone would? If there’s someplace you need to go sure. But otherwise I don’t see the reason for it.
Barney, Do you find the unhitch and re-hitch for gas a big deal? I know you’d prefer not to, but is it that big a deal? And what hitch do you use?

As was mentioned, with a Chev that has no isolator ( unlike a Ford) you can leave it hitched if you want, but do unplug the 7-pin.

Take a look at my earlier post and you will see what trailer I have. There is also a picture of it in my signature.
No, hitching and unhitching are no big deal to me. Just takes a couple of minutes to do and if it makes the refuel easier then I do it. I have a Hensley hitch but have used and owned just about all the different style hitches out there over the years.
The main reason I stay hooked up is that I consider it insurance in case I need to move quickly for some reason or other. Either way, it is not something I loose sleep over.![[emoticon]](https://forums.goodsamclub.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/biggrin.gif "biggrin")

Thanks Barney, I agree with you. And to unhook when gas is needed, although not preferred, is certainly doable. At times we don’t know what we have until we get there. I’d rather unhook and get gas instead of going on down the road. And maybe have to unhook anyway. There are also times it seems like car owners just want to mess with us! Most are happy to oblige however.

Never heard of this. An isolator? We have a Ford and only unplug the pigtail, the 7 pin.
