I'm thinking about flipping trailer axles on my TT. Technically, it isn't flipping but moving the spring perch and spring to the top of the axles. I know there are kits available for new perches that can be welded on.
Are there any disadvantages other than possibly having higher center of gravity. It is a relatively short in height, double axle, and aluminum skinned.
For those wondering, the dump connection is very low, so I think a few inches will help.

No problem. I have flipped axles on 2 of my TT. So that the rear end did not drag. The entrance steps will be a little higher.
MAKE SURE the wheels (axels) are aligned so the tires do not "toe out/in".
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

No negatives here either. I had a single axle 22 footer same issues you have but also expands your horizons a bit. We do National Forest campgrounds dirt Nat Forest roads.

Flipping axles adds cosiderably more side load torque to the spring pack, shackles hangers and frame. An added welded in X member like 2"x .188 square tube between the rear axle spring hangers would be my advice.

I havce done it on 3 TTs. Works great, you will lose about 1 MPG due to more wind resistance. That is the ONLY downside.

We did it on a 5th wheel. Overall positive.
One minor item not mentioned above: The rig was less stable while parked and needed to spend a little more effort at times getting the stabalizers to reach the ground solidly.

Need to readjust WDH. More stress on suspension components when on curvy roads and backing up. May need a step stool for that last step down. May need blocks for tongue jack or stabilizers. Looks goofy.
Upside: easier access to underside of trailer. I too had a trailer with a low drain outlet combined with underfloor tanks. Sometimes the sewer inlet was higher than the trailer outlet requiring the dump hose to be "walked" empty. Not enough whoosh to empty the tanks sufficiently.

It can make the last step from your stairs to the ground a big one. We use a sturdy stool on the ground to make up the difference. Other than that, no issues that we have noticed.

Mine were flipped and larger axles added. This gave me larger brakes and allowed for 16" tires to be used for better margins on weight the axles and tires could handle in addition to raising the trailer. It was a great mod.

Easily 13 years on mine with no problems. I'm 6'5" so the 6 inches difference cause by the lift isn't really a problem. But I did build a 6 inch high platform for a step since most women are a bit shorter that me. If I ever buy a different trailer I will make the mod without hesitation.
