Towing just got longer....A LOT LONGER...(and harder)

Well....I guess it would work.....if you're retired....and like to wait around at charging stations half of your life.....and like to play solitaire on your phone while waiting... and have a gen set in you tow rig to run your AC for 14 hours while your truck is charging.

Yep...it's a win!!!! (I'm sure some would say)[emoticon]

PS, I've driven on this road many times and I don't remember it being steep at all. Wait till someone buys a Lightning and try's towing the Ike. Good luck with that!

I don't think it's a secret that EV's haven't evolved to the point that they're viable tow vehicles. Might work for an around town contractor or a retiree with nothing but time, but that's about the extent of it.

Hu???[emoticon] [emoticon]

They both went 86 miles. Correct?

The EV was essentially out of juice. Correct?

It cost $27 dollars to "fill" the Lightning. Correct?

The Chevy got a hair less than 9 miles/ gallon. Correct?

They paid $4.80 a gallon for gas. Correct?

To go 86 miles the Chevy used 9.5 gallons of gas. Correct?

9.5 gallons of gas at 4.80= $46 bucks. (all numbers rounded)

The Lighting took $27 bucks to go the same distance.

So $27 bucks from 46 bucks= $19 bucks. Correct?

Not even close to $40 bucks. Correct? [emoticon]

Turtle - They went 86 miles!

On Saturday, I went 240 miles without stopping (with my nearly 10k lb TT). I stopped and replaced my 240 miles of energy in less than 2 minutes (truck pump). I drove another 100 plus miles, stopped 40 minutes for lunch in the middle of Illinois corn fields, and drove another 180 miles. 520 miles in the day. Spent the night, and drove 347 miles, with a brief stop. All for $450. And never saw a charging station.

I did see my first Dollar General with a hitching post - and in use with horse and buggy.

I will keep my EV at home, and use my truck or van for trips to Iowa. My daughters used the van for the trip, and drove the 800+ miles straight through, with one fuel stop.

Don't worry, Yosemite Sam will probably be by shortly to justify the common core math that bgum is doing....

Like I recently reported on the Ford Lightning EV truck towing a small trailer: Epic Fail

Also to add injury to insult the Lightning already received a safety recall because Ford didn't calibrate the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) correctly. At least it can be corrected via over the air (OTA) system. Quality Job 1 (what a shame)

A completely pointless video. No one with any towing knowledge expects current EVs to come even close to towing with an ICE engine. Video hints at being anti EV and leans toward being a GM promotional video.

Pretty sure you can check the "Epic Fail" box for the GM EV truck they're threatening to release. My only request is GM makes a profit this time on their EV trucks.
