Wake up Texans!!!

Just completing a trip from Dallas to Gillette, WY to attend the national high school rodeo finals.

Visited Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Sturgis, Crazy horse, and many other areas.

What beautiful places, and country!!

The difference....No trash anywhere!!!

Even Wal-Marts parking areas were clean and uncluttered.

We're Texans thru and thru, but what an poor example we set for the rest of our country.

Closing our southern border would be a great start!!

Without getting political, what would you suggest be done to "close" the border? Fences don't work, the "wall" doesn't work, and an estimated 75% of the illegal aliens in the US simply came here legally on various visas and failed to return when they expired. The majority of the illegal drugs coming into the US from the south come through the normal ports of entry, as do many illegal entrants. What would your solution be?

I see a lot of legal citizens littering every day. Should probably start there.

There exists a system that unlike the wall or fence senses when a PERSON crosses the border. This system is used on some military installations.. Then with a properly staffed border patrol you can get to 'em before they get very far... IT is effective (Military grade effective) And environmentally friendly. It has been suggested and rejected.. I might add that from what I understand (NOTE My knowledge of this system is rather limited and that includes the cost) It's less expensive than a wall.

Now you can still go over (Fly) Under (Tunnel) Around (Boat) and through (Cross at a legitimate border crossing) and that by the way is how most Illegals (As you implied) enter the USA.

I'm a fairly new Texan (about 1+ years), and I've travelled extensively through this beautiful state. I used to live in Southern California , so in comparison almost anywhere else is nicer. I don't recall seeing excessive messiness in TX, but, of course, I haven't been everywhere. So far, I like it here, and the people are among the friendliest. [emoticon]

Was this a back handed way to complain about immigration policy or was the intention to talk about littering? If it really was to talk about littering, where are the data showing the demographics of litterbugs (citizens vs legal foreign nationals vs illegals) and ideas on how to minimize littering? If it was to talk about immigration policy then it should be deleted (per forum rules).
