Hi all

Making my way through the negotiations for a class A ans the dealer advised me that the class A has a check engine and they don’t have a service engineer for diesels in Berkeley MA,

Any suggestions should I get a pre purchase inspection or call a Cummins, any suggestion

Currently coast to coast

Disconnect the engine battery 3 times, see if the light goes out.

If the dealer doesn't have qualified personnel to diagnose issues with a coach they are trying to sell, I'm not sure I would risk buying anything from them. How do you know there isn't anything else wrong with the coach?

You think the battery trick ?

This is a main dealer, I’m going to get a pre inspection anyways for the usual stuff, any suggestions on how to structure this deal other than subject to inspection ?

Would you ask the local truck and Rv service places to give you a quote to fix before you own the RV?

It could be minor or major. Without check you could wind up with a total engine/transmission replacement or just a sensor. Your choice.

There are 3 Cummins service locations within a 45 minute drive. Berkeley is 30 miles from Boston for Pete's sake lol. The Dealer is blowing smoke up your butt.

So, the dealer said they don’t have a service engineer for diesels in Berkeley MA. If this is true, no smoke is involved, right? If there are 3 Cummins service locations within a 45-minute drive, I see the dealer as being correct in their statement. Where's all this smoke you see?? [emoticon]

Just to recap, this class a is in a Rv dealer in Berkeley they did the walk around and all looks good with condition etc except they stated “sold as is “ and there is a check engine light. I asked if they could read the error and let me know . They informed me they don’t have a diesel guy at the Rv center.

If you were purchasing what would you do next I’m down in Florida, may be nothing have a call with the sales person today to do a walkthrough and discuss ?

You are correct, that's not unlike Realtors saying "upgraded electric" on a listing in 2022 when the upgrade was done in 1970 from knob and tube to Aluminum wiring lol.

Doesn't matter anyway as as the OP now stated it's sold "as-is" which he originally did not say, which means exactly that.
