As a hurricane tears through Florida I am reminded of weathering far too many. I've lucked out by not having a tornado fright, But have compensated perhaps with having way to many rocky rides with earthquakes.![[emoticon]](https://forums.goodsamclub.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/eek.gif "eek")
I silently am paying tribute to folks in Florida who are going to experience in person the scariest subject in RVing. Prayers for you!

Yes but one should not wait for a Hurricane.. One should get the (Word deleted before it was typed) OUTTA THE WAY.
After all the best place to be in a hurricane..... Elsewhere.
And as for being stalked by a turtle.. Remember the Turtle won the race.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Wanderingbob, you are so very, very right! The waiting and stress is what gets you.
Ian is supposed to cut across Florida, come out into the Atlantic at Daytona Beach, north up the Atlantic, and curve northwest into Charleston. I’m hoping it will blow itself out by then, but we’re ready. The Atlantic Ocean is now cooler than the Gulf of Mexico; therefore, I’m betting the cooler waters will starve the storm to death.

I have family that was in the path of the hurricane. Just pinged my BIL to get a status. One sheriff is claiming he has hundreds dead in his county. Not verified by any means. I pray this is not the case.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be Douglas Adams
RV-less for now but our spirits are still on the open road.

I have lived through many Florida hurricanes. When a hurricane comes I have time to get ready or leave. The beach is nice but you pay a heavy price to live close to the water.

That's the nice thing about Hurricanes. Though they may surprise some Science Denier types... Most folks have lots and lots of time to be ELSEWHERE (the best place to be) Tornados you may have anywhere from seconds to minutes at best (Take cover)
If you live in an area subject to storms.. I suggest you take the NOAA weather spotter course. Also the FEMA ICS 100 and 200 (I think it is 100 that discusses thigns like where to shelter in a tornado) ICS is "Incident Command System"
I am required to have passed the test... I did 2nd try on both of 'em.
I do better on the NOAA course.

Yes I have gone trough an earthquake, 1957 Mexico City then the 2 in 2017 and the last one last month on the 19th and tons of them in California and a bunch of small ones out in Desert Hot Springs, thats North of Palm Springs we lived right next to the San Andreas fault on the American plate side, of course on the RV I did not notice them, the wiife did.

I am told that as an infant I slept through some serious California type quakes. and as an adult I've slept through a few Tremors on the New Madrid fault... And one I actually "Experienced" it was minor. (Few broken Teacups from what I understand). The fun part however was everybody at the office save one was "What was that, What was that What was that?
