Decline in RV shipments over the last 4 months.
July -33.4%
August -36.0%
September -48.5%
October -43.7%
That's a 40.4% overall decline over 4 months.

FAIRFAX, Va. – Results for the RV Industry Association’s October 2022 survey of manufacturers determined that total RV shipments ended the month with 32,652 units, a decrease of (-43.7%) compared to the 57,971 units shipped in October 2021. Through October, RV shipments are down (-12.2%) compared to the same point last year with 448,246 wholesale shipments.
“As we enter the holiday season, shipments of RVs continue to normalize from last year’s record production,” said RV Industry Association President & CEO Craig Kirby. “The RV industry is still on track to deliver a Top 5 year. And with our latest research showing over 15 million Americans planning to go RVing between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, it’s clear our industry is delivering an incredible way for friends and families to enjoy the holidays together in the outdoors.”
(Hows that for sugar coating bad news LOL?)
Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month down (-48.3%) against last October with 27,329 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month up 4.1% compared to the same month last year with 5,323 units.
Park Model RVs finished October up 43.2% compared to the same month last year, with 507 wholesale shipments. To date, park model RVs are up 16.5% with 3,947 shipments.

From all of the complaints on this forum about crowded campsites and no places to park, I thought you’d all be popping the champagne cork. I would have expected the subject of this thread to be Wake up Irene, the party’s starting.

No complaints, might just be in the market for a new trailer, in about 6 months. The local mom and pop dealer's sales have disappeared. He has half his lots filled with used units he can't get rid of, and is talking about taking a lot of them to the wholesale auction.

It really shouldn't be a surprise. A year and a half ago the local dealer lot had 10 trailers on it. Where they usually have 60-100. That means a lot of delivery's just to get the lots back to full. Now the lots are full, why would delivery's continue?
Pre-covid - lots full ordering to replace the 15 units sold in a month.
Covid - Trailer sales explode and lots empty. Can't staff the manufacturers due to quarantine rules.
Covid waning - manufactures ramp up production to all time highs to supply current needs and replace the inventory to pre covid levels.
Post covid - Lots filling up, other vacation options open up, many used units available, production will naturally slow down.

Shipments are down because there is no place to put them. RV dealer lots are packed to the brim with new units waiting for potential customers.
Deliveries to dealers was way up but the buyers are not responding with purchases. Gas is way up. And diesel running $1.75 to $2.00 more than gas is certainly not helping with the larger MHs and towable RVs.

Add to that - interest rates are historically high. That has a tendency to bring big purchases to a grinding halt.
While Covid was the perfect recipe for huge demand on RV's, now you have the perfect storm to swing the opposite direction.

I'm in the market for a new trailer, but will be sure to check the mfg date among other things. Build quality is in the toilet. Hopefully these latest units will be a little better.

With the build’em fast and push’em out pressure over for a while this may be a good time to special order. Maybe it wouldn’t get pushed thru as fast.
