I am afraid that I have been on the parkowner's side of this more than a few times. He has very few tools at his disposal short of evicting the offender. He has mentioned the expected result there. I, very personally, had a situation occur that I confronted an offender literally in front of the sign that prohibited his activity. His "It's a Free Country" response was not appreciated. Fortunately, this man never came back. We can't always be so lucky.

What these boards appear to be afflicted with is a runaway case of "get off my GD lawn" syndrome ROFLMAO. What a bunch of kooks. Every other thread on these boards is a doosy unlike anything I've seen.

Nah, he’s right…
I only stay for the entertainment value and to hopefully help the newbie folks with questions that get blown to mars by all the geezernet “experts” , from being mislead by the exact thing ole sterling was talkin aboot.

Now here's an example of a CG owner, making a quick decision to cut his losses, show someone the exit! It happens!
Several of us welcomed this new member, just yesterday. He entered with a chip on his shoulder (we don't know why), and left with the same feeling. In his posts in TV section, seemed intelligent, with a bit of humor/sarcasm, made me kind of smile!
A friend and wife, just a year out of college, bought a rustic, but nice CG, with some backing from his father. Their plan...pay it off over 10 years, sell it, have a nice bit of start up money, toward a bigger/better/easier way to get ahead in life.
It did work out for them, but owning a CG was more demanding, and stressful than anticipated. The were easy going, but super hard workers. CG ownership is not for everyone, actually not for most!

Anyone who has ever been a campground host can sympathize with RV park owners.
The majority of campers will respond appropriately when they are making too much noise, running a generator after hours or breaking posted rules. Unfortunately there is a minority who are difficult to deal with and don't care about the rules. Even worse are domestic disputes. This can involve loud fights which can become physical. More than once I have seen campers left behind while the fellow camper drives off in the RV. Alcohol or drugs is often involved and can turn a situation nasty in a hurry.
Although I sympathize with the park staff, it is part of the job. It is essential to be firm, enforce rules, and if necessary call oust the campers and/or call for police backup.

I've been reading this thread since the Wapiti started it. I actually am on his side through this. There undoubtedly has to be some level of discretion when enforcing the rules. Heck, police officers have discretion over varying degrees of infractions, certainly the business owner can as well.
I would be willing to bet Wapiti has enforced his fair share of violations. I doubt he lets his guests just run rampant without a care in the world. He asked for suggestions on how to handle things better and zero input (as he says).
Problem is, how many campground owners would actually SEE a speeder ripping through the campground? If seen first hand, I'd say no tolerance. But if a guest complains, and you confront said violator and he says no I wasn't.. I was maybe doing 15 in the 10MPH, then what? Lord knows I have checked myself doing 15 in a 10 in a campground and Im sure most everyone here has as well.
Same with the incessant dog barking. Violator can just disagree and say "no, my dog didn't bark. So, unless the campground owner, or camp host has first hand knowledge, then what? Take the word of the complainer over the violator? What if the complainer was mad at the violator for some other reason? He looked at my wife wrong? He left his porch light on after 1000... whatever. If I were the business owner, I would handle this he said/she said with discretion. Odds are the violator probably will adjust his behavior knowing someone is watching.
I will freely admit that at times, I may have inadvertently violated a rule or two. Yes, my responsibility to read the rules, so Im responsible. If I did inadvertently (like even 20MPH in a 10MPH zone), I would be grateful for the discretion. Now, if multiple witnesses saw me flying around the campground then I deserve what I get.

Ironically, we went to a highly-recommended campground for a family campout that had previously been owned by a church; but then got bought out by a group who supported medical marijuana by the time we went there. They proudly declared "Our only rule is that there aren't any rules". They provided live music for the whole campground - fortunately we enjoy the Grateful Dead and Tom Petty, etc - and they DID stop blaring it around midnight. Our covered picnic table pavilion had the biggest wasp nest I've ever seen - thank God for awnings on motorhomes. And the women's shower, which one paid to use, didn't have a water heater that functioned (they had one on hand, just hadn't gotten around to installing it). They offered kayaking on a nearby river - it hadn't been maintained and a "beginner-friendly" paddle started with a thigh-deep muck-wading entry point, and had more portages than I've ever experienced on "wild" rivers. The one good point - all the campers were exceptionally friendly and nice....LOL!
While it made for a slew of great stories to be told later around campfires - I can truly appreciate a well-managed park with sensible rules!!

Many years ago a big group of us booked a block of sites at a park in Ventura and booked an empty spot to use as our gathering area. I had originally parked my trailer the wrong direction so that I could face the empty space, but the park host came over and yelled at me and made me turn it around because rules are rules.
I never understood that one. Never saw the harm in it. I assume maybe it has something to do with not wanting the dump hose run underneath the rig, but I didn't even hook mine up (just shore power and fresh water).
They wouldn't budge though. I even re-read through the rules and that wasn't one of them, which means I wasn't technically a rule breaker.
