I am thinking about hanging out near New Orleans from June to mid August. Has anybody done this? Is the weather unbearable?
Also, where did you stay?

Thanks!!!

We didn't stay as long as you are planning. We stayed at Bayou Segnette SP.
We did not find the conditions that bad.
Many things to visit around the area doing day-trippiong.

We spend the fall/winter on the Northshore but don't arrive till week of Thanksgiving and we're gone before tax day in April. If you like hot and humid you'll be right at home. Bring your bug spray.

Second for Bayou Segnette SP.
How bearable NOLA is during the summer depends on what you're use to. Millions of people live in that part of the country and manage the heat and humidity. But it's going to be hot and humid. Hot and really humid. In the morning it feels like a sauna then it starts getting hot and really humid.
There is always something going on in NOLA but during the summer things slow a bit.

We’ll be there in Oct. we are staying at New Orleans RV Resort and Marina. Was cheaper than French Quarter RV Resort and what looks like a nicer setting, and what I think is a safer area! We are only staying a day and a half.

As others said, hot and humid. If possible stay on the north shore of the lake. Three state parks but only allow 14 days at a time. Some nice private own parks that give monthly rates. Lot of history within day trips.

June to September, NO is hot, sticky, humid and full of biting insects and poisonous snakes. Alligators have been known to show up too. Then there are the hurricanes that sometimes visit in those months. Remember Katrina?

Winter time the insects are inactive, sometimes the snakes are (be especially wary of water moccasins which are aggressive). If you want to see New Orleans, go in January or February.

We have stayed at Abita Springs RV Resort on the north side of the lake. It's a great park and you can get a monthly rate. The state parks are good but limited to 14 days at one time. Abita Springs is a nice quaint little town and safe. Lots to do in NOLA but just be cautious if you go there at night.

We like to stay there too. It is nice being on the water even if you are not waterfront. We do recommend getting a premium pull through as it is worth the difference. More space and a little more privacy. Depending on the weather it can get a little dusty. The restaurant is not bad if you just want to hang there. You will be safe in the resort. They have some great restaurants in NO. Enjoy!
