So I have a new F350 with the 7.3 liter on order. Its probably going to be 6-8 months for delivery and once we get that we are going to look for a 5th wheel. While I initially saw a lot of comments on here regarding that engine I'm wondering for those of you that have had it for a couple years are you still happy with it as a tow vehicle? We are probably going to look for something in the 10-12000 lb category. TIA

Congrats on a great choice! I'm still towing my FW with the 6.2 6-speed. It works great, and the 7.3 with 10-speed just better on all counts.

I'm sure you ordered the FW prep pkg. Be sure to get the B&W 3300 to fit the OEM pucks.

Hope wait time improves!

We just finished our 1st year towing with a F350 Lariat SWR with the 7.3 gasser. Our 5th wheel has a dry weight of 12,175 lbs. & is almost 35' long. The truck does not struggle towing our rig at all - the 10 speed automatic transmission will downshift when pulling uphill, but that is normal for this truck. All of our axle & payload weights are within specs, and the ride is downright comfy! If you keep your travelling weight less than 14,000 lbs. you should have no issues. And yes, a good hitch will give you an extra margin of safety. We also had to wait almost 7 months before our '22 Ford was delivered, but the wait was worth it! BTW, it does suck gas. You won't be passing too many gas stations when towing. Have fun!

Yes, we ordered it with the 5th wheel prep package. It’s a XLT Supercrew 4x4, short box, with the 3.73 rear end. Pretty basic truck although the price seems like we loaded it up.

3.73s will pull 12k fine. But get 4.30s because you can and it will pull better for basically free.

We ordered a '23 F350 for our farm/ranch work and not sure when it will be delivered. Having said that the reports I've read are really good for towing performance.

Congrats on the new purchase. I am sure that the wait will feel much longer than 6-8 months. Those new trucks are sure nice.
