Challenging weather this coming weekend in SoCal. Need to get to Phoenix friday night from San Diego. Usually I'd go out the 8 and up from Gila Bend. But snow level is pretty low and forecast is hit and miss. I'd rather avoid snow possibilities entirely. Is the 10 a better option? Trying to recall the elevations. Thoughts? TIA

According to CalTrans, I-10 has a full emergency closure East of Palm Springs right now. "Due to Emergency Work No estimated time for reopening of closure."

I-10 does have lower elevation than I-8.

I-10 highest elevation: 2600ish Feet.
I-8 highest elevation: 4000ish Feet.
