LOL! When was the last time you stayed in a hotel???
Market forces. With so many people buying RVs during COVID it's only natural that prices for sites will rise due to more competition from users.
While $80-100 is too high, hotels that aren't total fleabag places start around $125.
Basically, unless you have a specific reason to go to an expensive campground, there are plenty available in the $20-40/n range.

There is some variability but...
Might look into Passport America. Found 5 within a 100miles of DC for under $40 (your signature indicates Maryland) with less than a minute of looking.

Lantley Where are those places? I have been looking for a spot up there for a month or so and none have had a price that low.

So I sort of did a quick search and the cheapest I found was Millersville, MD KOA midweek at $67.00
There are some RV Sites with Electric/Water/Sewer
With Cable, Big Rig 50/30 amp - $64 - $75
With Cable, 30/50 amp - $60 - $71 Lancaster area.
But in general I stand corrected $80.00 is more the cheapest private rate I find.

If only any of those rates, be it RV or Hotel were available in high demand areas. Example: West Yellowstone in August. Grizzly RV park standard back in site $129.00 a night. Holiday Inn Express $402/night. And those prices don’t include a dozen eggs. Welcome to prices in the year 2023.

Don't stay at those high priced places. Stay at state and federal parks. If you're 62 or older get the Senior Pass which gives you half off all federal campgrounds. The most we ever pay in a federal campground is $19 a night with water and electric. One campground in Arkansas is $7.50 a nite for W&E.Prices vary in state parks too but we'd pay anywhere from$18 to $48 a nite with W&E and in Tennessee we paid $45 for FHU right on the lake and that's not with any discount.

Good luck with that unless its somewhere no one wants to go. Most are booked up in this area already for next year.

Passport America Mid-Atlantic Region
It costs $44 per year to join. Pay attention to the dates the discount is available as well as how many nights it can be used.
