Years ago I thought I would retire when I got older. Well, I got older and I figured I would retire when I got older ... Well, I'm about to turn 60 and still no plans to retire. My problem is I enjoy my work days more than my holidays. Maybe if and when I get a little older I'll retire.

You never get older.Unless you go to your 45th high school reunion and can't remember what 10 years you were held back because you didn't grow up with all the old people there.

almost 68, still working part time in my profession, no plans to retire.
For some retirement is best thing they ever did for others not so much.
Retirement is an industry, 99% of the talk is about money, with 1% on what it is you are going to do.
I live by "enough money to sleep well. enough purpose in life to need to get up"
That old easy chair has a powerful suction.
But whatever works for someone is great by me, but for me alone I think retiring
would be a poor choice for myself

Had to laugh at this one. My 45th is this June.
OP, age is relative. I retired at 58. Hubby is 62 and ready to retire but is putting it off for various reasons.
It comes down to what do you want your life story to read and what you want to be remembered for. And whether or not you can find enough stuff to do!

I think many times for folks, the deciding factor is the difference between having a Career that you enjoy, and the rest of us who have jobs, mostly because we needed one, not necessarily because we enjoy it, while I have had a couple jobs I enjoyed, I couldn't wait to retire, since then I've done what I wanted to do, not what I had to do.

I retired at 58. Loved my job, and debated for a long while before I committed. Had about 5 offers to go to work making more money. I worked for a couple of limited time projects, but find I don’t care to have my time scheduled for me. If an interesting project comes along, I might consider it. Otherwise, I’ll sleep when I want, fish when I want, piddle in the shop when I want and travel when I want.
I never thought my job was stressful, but after several weeks I noticed I was less stressed. I like that feeling.

I've been retired for over ten years. So far I haven't been able to figure out how I ever had time to go to work.

I retired the first time at 43, and the second time at 58. No regrets with either retirement. We live comfortably and stay busy volunteering for non-profits that interest us. Life is good.

If I had 70 million bucks,.....I would spend it. It's one thing I learned how to do...(but, don't remember where I learned it).
