I have had to lay it on the ground if the receptacle was a "low" one. I would put a small board under the surge protector. Don't know how much good it did, but it made me feel better.

I finished my Dollar Tree $3 special to support the surge protector off the ground. I like the solution, but it would be even better if I can find a way to secure it to the ground. The 30 Amp plug on my box is pretty loose and it can be easily pulled out of the socket and I can lose power in the trailer. I may check Walmart or eBay to see if there is something like tent spikes I can buy to secure it to the ground. It may end up being a $5 or $7 solution.

Your solution looks like it will do the job. The stand is even color matched to your protector. ![smile [emoticon]](https://forums.goodsamclub.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/smile.gif)
A loose fit connection is never a good thing. That box looks like it is reaching retirement. If you ask management, they might at least replace the worn socket, and breaker, giving consistent power to your trailer.

I camped at a really busy, large SP, that had a little sign on each pedestal to use a bungee cord to secure your rv plug into receptacle. You said you plan to be parked there for long term, reason I mentioned that they might do some up dating for you.

This park is in pretty bad shape all the way around, but it's about $200 a month cheaper than anything else in the area, so I'm content. I'll take economy over luxury on my budget.

DallasSteve,
Think about making a 1 foot extension cord where the male plug can be sacrificed--protecting the power cord on the RV from needing replacement plugs.

That's a very good reason to replace your unit with a PI unit as posted above to protect your RV, most likely problem is low voltage.
