I hate to say this, but that is par for the course right now. My Expedition spent over 8 weeks in the shop last year. Every time I called it was “almost done”. I even got a message on my Ford app that said something about it going into dormant mode since it had been so long since it moved.
My RAM just spent two weeks when I had an appointment weeks in advance and they knew I was leaving on a trip with my RV.
Dealers are under staffed just like everyone else.
I’m just glad for you to get your truck back and a simple repair.
Called the dealer to make an appointment to have my windshield replaced thinking I could drop it off the next day, but to find out they're on national back order. The service writer wouldn't even order it and let me know when it arrived to schedule the install. So had to go to the parts dept and order it and they would let me know when it came in. Then when it finally came in, I made an appointment with a service writer and he was asking why I was providing the windshield. At that point I was biting my tongue. Just have to be patient and courteous

US auto mfgs thank you for your dedication to them I’m sure.
But what I can’t understand is why support a business that is (generally) substandard for service and charges more than virtually any other means to accomplish a repair when it’s not necessary….like a new battery or windshield.

My DEF pump went out and put me in threat of limp mode when I next turned off my truck in March 2022. We were driving back from Florida with the camper and full family in tow. Not only did the Savannah Ram dealer have the pump in stock (when many places were out of stock and backordered), but they had TWO diesel mechanics on staff with no other work.
$2818 for a stinking EPA certified pump was rather unfortunate. Getting it done in a single day and letting me get back home for work the next week was a blessing.

I did a replacement on a 19 that had diesel pumped into the DEF tank. It's not a bad job even on your back. That number is unfortunately VERY inflated.

Well still glad I can turn my own wrenches most of the time!
Just a 90k service interval that also included an engine oil and filter change .
So services were engine oil and filter change, Aisin fluid drain and fill, and fuel filter change. All filters from Geno’s were $181.85. The Valvoline 15-40 oil $60 on sale for 3 gallons, and the Mobil 3309 ATF I ordered 6qt at a cost of $51.83 with shipping from Summit racing and used one additional quart I had on had, so less than $60. So total supplies $301.85, I don’t think a dealer would have any one of those s services for what I did all three.

You must not have let your AISIN drain very long. I usually get 8 quarts out on a drain only.
