ROFL! I sense a bit of irony here...
I detest car salesmen and dealers as much as the next guy, but they're A hOles yet you think your 6 year old truck might be worth close to $60k?
(Seriously though, I see your point. They numbers don't mean a thing, it's the propensity to reeel every sucker in that they can and bend em over...but hey, I'm not a non-profit business either, so...)

I think it depends where you’re at. In Alberta people are selling newer trucks for more than what they paid for them. Keeping the truck new makes sense here.

I saw a u tube video where a guy paid US$72,000 for a F150. He owned it for 4 months and 4000 miles. He was disappointed with rust starting on aome chassis components, window starting to roll down a bit by itself etc.
He shopped the truck to local Ford dealers and one bought it outright for $72,000.00

Wow, kept the truck for only 4 months and only lost the several thousand dollars in sales tax, and 4 months of payments. What a deal.

The x/a plans are at the dealers discretion, they do not have to sell at plan price.

You guys have never bought a Raptor. Before all this covid craziness So Cal dealers added $10-$25K to the price and what's really scary (and stupid) people pay it. This just isn't a Ford problem, all of these parasitic dealers do it.

Did you really expect to get into a 6 year newer truck for only 9-16K?
No, not at all. I also don't expect to get into that one for $34K nor will I. $38K trade for a 42K mile truck that will get upper $50sK on their lot the day after being traded, and $5K over sticker on new? No thanks.
FYI I've moved into a few for @ $16K or a little more in the past.
In a year or so this market could be 180 degrees turned around, and probably will be.

I'm guessing a highly undesirable area and/or the town home needed major work.
In 1992, the median home price was north of $100k.

Parasitic dealers? Huh? Dealers are trying to make maximum profit. I think that that is why they are in business,at least I was always taught that the purpose of a business was to make money.
Have you been forced to buy a vehicle? Are your wife and children held hostage by the "parasitic" dealer?
When you walk onto a lot and see prices exceeding your desire to pay, just leave!
