Anybody ever have this issue or ever hear of this issue with Reese Dual Cam sway control? I've posted a couple of times about my dual cam bracket & cam bending. I discovered today it's because the way the safety chains hang when I am straightening out from a turn sometimes the chains will get bound between the hitch head and the trunnion bar. This won't allow the trunnion bear to come back into its proper location so it in turn puts outward pressure on the hanging brackets for the Dual cam which bends both the bracket and the cam. If you have a fix I'd be mighty obliged to hear it, if you have suggestions I'd be mighty obliged to hear them as well. Here's hoping I can get this one sorted out.

My safety chains hang down from the hitch receiver, and go below the hitch and bars. I don't see how they could interfere. A picture may help.

Been using a Reese Dual cam system since 2004 on three different trailers and almost 70k miles with no issues. It sounds like your safety chains are way too short. As suggested, pics would help a lot.

I have used a Equalizer WDH for many years with no chains to contend with. Chains are Too much hassle for me as I am low energy like

Safety chains, not WDH chains. You’d better still have those.

The shop where I had my new dual cam installed gave me this info. I took a look today & it doesn't make sense that the chains are getting pinched. There is a small "pocket" for the chains to go in so they stay out of the way so I'm still at a loss as to why my bracket & cam are bending. This has been happening since I installed a new 15,000 lb Reese hitch last year. I phoned Reese & their answer was simply that you can't mix old with new. Well with the new dual cam installed everything is new so we'll see how this plays out. Thanks.

8,500 lb trailer with 1,120 lbs on the tongue. WD hitch is rated 15,000 lbs with 1,500 on the tongue. I know what you're saying but if Reese specs are right that really shouldn't be an issue. I may have to call them again.
