I'm helping a friend with a new to him 5er that has all valves stuck in the closed position. I have Valterra valves and I know you can grab the shaft with vice grips and pull it open.

However his is 'equipped' with Lasalle Bristol valves where the shaft is hidden inside a plastic shell.

Is there any way to access that pull shaft by removing the case?

Barring that, on my rig, I was able to replace the valve and cable by removing 4 bolts, slipping the old valve out and slipping the new one it. Can this be done with Lasalle Bristol valves? (it sure looks like it)

Have him buy new valves which should answer the questions.

We're in Florida so no freezing temperatures until later this week.

Neither of us wants / is able to replace the valves so he's going to call a pro to find out what he says. I'll let you know.

Following directions for cable replacement, see if cable is seized or whether it is actually the valve seized.

The pro was able to undo one cable and reef the valve open. The other two had no success (yet). On one he declared that the rod had stripped out of the valve and no decision on the third.

I believe the owner is going to replace all valves with not Lasalle Bristol valves.
