We are looking to load up the 5er a 36 ft. and go to Maine in June from SW Michigan. Looking for best. I think the route on I-90 looks like great stops along the way. Any advice? Pro's/Con's for either route. Thanks A lot.

I think 90 has better stops then 80. Just not much to see on 80. Look at Turning Stone on 90. Casino and campground might be a good half way stop.

There are several very good campgrounds in or near Saco. They all have 50 amp hookups. 50 amp hookups are common in the rest of Maine.
"They all have 50 amp hookups" might be a bit of a stretch...you should confirm before you commit yourself.

when we go out that away,I would go I-80 to I-81 in Pa...( can stop at the Mohegan Casino ..lot c ....in Wilkes-Barre the first night
then I-81 for 22 miles to I-84 straight thru Pa,NY and Conn to I-90 in Mass....stay on I-90 for a cpl of exits then I-495 north right to I-95 at the Mass/NH state line...
First rest area in NH has the state liquor store and some decent prices on liquor with no tax
we like Wassimi Springs in Scarsbourgh,Me..........also if traveling around Maine, go to Red's Eats in Wicassett,Me for the best lobsta roll there is

Maine campgrounds that provide 50amp service are not that plentiful...you should think of making reservations soon, if you have not already done so...sounds like a great trip you have planned...enjoy!

What kind of stops are you looking for? And how many are you planning?

I-90 would not be my first choice, but perhaps that's partly because I've traversed the NY Thruway too many times already. Be prepared to personally put a little dent in the NY highway budget if you do take that route. (I'm not sure it's actually extra expensive per mile, but it's likewise not the least expensive, and there are a lot of miles from end to end.)

I would probably go I-90 to I-86 to I-88 and then perhaps route 2 to through Massachusetts to I-495. Some here detest I-88, but I've never found it to be a particularly bad road myself.
