SW Missouri to Lake Superior. Best route?

The family and I are getting ready to head up to the Pictured Rocks area of Lake Superior….we will be staying at Munising Campground right on the lake.

I’m wondering what the best route is to take, something that might take us by some cool things to stop and see along the way. Google Maps is saying to go through St.Louis, to Springfield Illinois, then up to Madison Wisconsin, and then to Green Bay, and then north to Munising Campground.

Are there any detours we need to take along the way? Any stuff that’s worth stopping to see?
Any info would be great!

If you have the time, I would head to Dubuque via hwy 151 out of cedar rapids. I live in Branson and its about a 8 hours drive to Cedar Rapids via 44.54.19,H at center H is a great Ozark road. then 24 to 218 and to cedar rapids. At Dubuque the Mississippi River Museum https://www.rivermuseum.com is well worth stopping at. There is also the Cog Railway Elevator that's a must to see.

On our way to Madison via 151 there's the House on the Rock built by Frank Loyd Wright. North of Madison is the Baraboo Circus Museum www.circusworldbaraboo.org and then do not forget Wisconsin Dells, Its a different version of Branson.

From Madison then head up to Michagan, its really a great spot. One has to try the "Pasties" they are great eats.

I'm a little farther SW of you. I've traveled that route and it's ok, but my preference personally is to head north to Des Moines, east on I-80 to Davenport, north on US62 to Dubuque, and US151 to Fond du Lac, then US41 north. Past Marinette I'd suggest M-37 along the shore for an occasional view of Lake Michigan. The reason for my preference is twofold: less traffic congestion out west, and I think the US151 stretch from Dubuque to Madison is scenic.
