Anyone who has camped at myrtle beach state park have any thoughts or opinions of the campground and park itself? we have a spot reserved for march 9th and 10th. Not interested in myrtle beach itself been there done that. Hoping for good weather. Just the wife and i plus 4 little dogs. we enjoy the more laid back less amenities type camping.

good observation, that is in fact a downside to being ocean front.

We loved the campground and beach, etc. Have no issue with that. The airport thing wasn't too bad, but it is noticeable. Some mind it more than others. I would try Huntington as well.

I've stayed there twice and have a third trip booked. I like it, but I'm a beach person. The first 3 loops have a different look and feel than the back loops. Restrooms are dated but nice and clean, but I go in Oct. so can't comment on the summer season. Negatives are flight path and some sites have walnut trees, and the nuts can do some damage in a storm. Two vehicles in our group were damaged with dings. I actually prefer Hunting Island for a beach campground, but it was heavily damaged by Hurricane Matthew.

Thanks for the pictures. Whats funny is I like MB for the exact reason you do not. The trees and the shade are a very desirable feature in my book.Shade and State Parks are a natural combo...LOL

Yeap, we're all different, eh? Now, we used to stop there in November when it was a bit chillier and the days shorter - thus our liking for some sun. If I were going to be there in summer, most definitely the shaded wooded sites would be my choice.

I'm sure is rare, but that is the ONLY park in about 50 years of camping that I have ever had anything stolen from my site... Park itself was fine for our purposes, but I would try for Huntington Beach as mentioned above if back in the area. ST
