The time has come!

It's here!!! After 51 1/2 continuous years in the work force, of which the last 45 were with the same company the day has arrived to RETIRE!! My exit interview is at 1:00 this afternoon and then I am FREE to do what I want, with my Dear Wife's permission of course! We are looking forward to starting our 1st (retired) road trip with our Travelin Gnome Jack (as in Hit the Road Jack).

Hope to meet some of you along the way. Headed to Yuma AZ via Carlsbad Caverns and Tucson.

It is now almost 5:00 pm on Saturday. How did the first 24 hours of your retirement go? What did you do after you left work and today? Did you "try" to sleep in late? Stay up late last night? do anything special? Now you can get into "relax" mode!

One thing about travelling after retirement: you're no longer in a rush. Go somewhere, set up camp for a few days or few weeks, and really explore. No more "Six National Parks in Seven Days" tours. Yea!

Rangerman40, Iwas kinda looking forward to my exit interview....they already New how I felt. But, at that point....they couldn’t fire me! With 15 months to retirement.....the “laid” me off. Best thing that could have happened!

Congrats! As far as that exit interview goes.... if they don't know what you think by now they don't need to. My exit interview would be them seeing my a$s walk out the door.

Yuma is a great choice. It's the warmest place in Arizona. We have been here for 15 winters(6 months a year). Check out Cocopah RV and Golf Resort. Come on a Saturday or Sunday and ask for Jan or Paul at the main office for information. Or PM me for info.

Congratulations, we did it 15 years ago and still love it. Rather than go jsouth to hit I-10 after you leave Carlsbad go north to US 70 and take a more scenic route through ruidoso NM, Alamogordo, and stop off at white sands national monument. Can hit I-10 again in las Cruces NM and head to Tucson. Any questions about the area around southern NM , southern AZ to Yuma I might ba able to help. Been visiting these areas for years. Oh temperature here this afternoon is 67 degrees.

Congrats. I retired 9 years ago this Feb. It was tough at 1st, but after 5 mins I got the hang of it. 🙂
