New Tires Lighten my Wallet

After the tire issue I had on our final trip of the season I knew it was time for new tires all around on the fifth wheel. I was actually overdue for new tires and I was trying to put it off until spring. The Maxxis 8008 tires I had went through a real torture test on my many trips on the crappy roads in IL, IN, and MS and they lasted 7 travel seasonsโ€ฆalmost. I was also impressed that the tire issue I had was a steel belt breaking loose in the tire yet it didnโ€™t cause a blowout. Today I bought a new set of Maxxis tires (235 80R 16) at $199 each, ouch. I guess I shouldnโ€™t complain, I paid $180 each when I bought the previous set.

Ya , you wonder how Goodyear came up with Endurance :B :R

You donโ€™t get it. Goodyear, Michelin, Toyo, Cooper and the like put their name loud n proud on their tires unlike these off brand tires.

Ron , you missed the point , I was just ribbing you on the meaning of Endurance ๐Ÿ™‚

I am trying out a set of TurnPike st2500 14 ply steel belted tires recommended by my tire guy. Company makes mostly commercial trailer tires. Great tread and so far very happy with them. Paid $675.00 mounted and balanced.

Again they are Goodyears, and I'm just not impressed by Goodyear. And they are over priced as well. the MAXXIS cost less and are better.

I have heard of rounding up but that is a bit much as they sell everyday on AMAZON for $425.

:B Not off by much on the 1/3 , Sailun S637's go for $140-150 ea, lets go with the 150 x 3 = 450, close enough don't you think .

I never mentioned in the past anything but the fact the Sailun were made in China and even said they have a good track record.

Now that they are not doing so well I am still not going to bash them.

The fact is every tire maker has a bad run now and then. My last set of Michelins for my truck only went 40k. I replaced with same and now have 46k and plenty of tread.

So those of you that constantly bashed the GY "G" when I suggested it over the years I guess it's your turn. The fact is GY had a bad run on their "G" tires around 07 but they sure did stand behind them and fixed any damages plus replaced the tires.

So the question to be answered is Sailun stepping up and paying for damages with these faulty tires???

Yup, just price a Goodyear G614.

I'll keep my G614s! I have never understood people who will pay upwards of $100,000 for an RV but balk at paying $1500 (what I paid 3 years ago) for the best tires out there.

I see the same thing in my Goldwing friends, $25k for a bike but won't pay $8 for an oil filter. SMH

YEP!!!

There is some validity in that, but then take Sailun , at now 1/3 the price of G614, that are now going for near $500 per tire :E . If I wanted to be robbed by Goodyear ,it should at least be at gunpoint ๐Ÿ™‚

As far as the Goodyear G614 being the best tire out there ,not hardly ,they were at one time about the only game in town for a G rated RV tire ,and had a HORRIBLE track record , granted they have improved ,but they still have not had the track record of the Sailuns made in China, that has been well documented .
