Just put a set of 16" on my Montana. They pumped them to 110psi. I have 2800lbs/wheel and am wondering what psi to run them at. I know many on the forum run these tires so I am so I am asking advise from those that have had success with these tires.

Thanks, Bob

There are two versions of the Sailun 637s. One for regional all position trucks load rating 4080# and the S637T HD ST Trailer rated at 4400#(part#5540993). Make sure of the difference when ordering. The HD ST trailer is used for low boy, large equipment trailers, and rv 5th wheel applications.

I recently saw a PSI/load table (40-80 PSI) for a 275/70/18 E-rated LT tire with a maximum load rating of 3,640 lbs. at 80 PSI. At the low end of the table, it listed the maximum load for this tire as 2070 lbs. when inflated to 40 PSI.

The OP said his tire load was 2,800 lbs. Interesting to note the minimum tire pressure necessary to support 2,800 lbs. while using the above 275/70/18 LT, 3,640 lb. rated tire was approx. 55 PSI. Just for the sake of discussion, if we transpose this 275/70/18 LT PSI/load table to a 4000 lb.,110 PSI rated tire it would indicate 75 PSI is necessary to support 2,800 lbs.

Am I saying the OP should use 75 PSI? No, I'm not, But, I do find the transposition interesting.

FWIW, our trailer has 2,250 lbs on each tire. We've been running 80-85 PSI in our 4,080 lb./110 PSI/G-rated tires for 8,000 miles (several times in 110-115 degree heat) with no abnormal wear or other issues noted. When we tried running 110 PSI we noticed only 70-75 percent of the tire was contacting the road surface. This increased to 80-90 percent at 80-85 PSI. Again, note this is with a relatively light load (for a 4,080 lb. tire) of 2,250 lbs.

I run mine at 110 psi and they ride fine with no harsh bumping noticed.

I don't doubt your inflation tables. However I have experienced to many blow outs and the collateral damage to fool around with the tables.
I want the toughest heaviest tire I can get.I don't want to derate it by filling to anything but max. pressure.

Know your weights, use the inflation weight table and add 5psi to the heaviest weight on each axle. Per GY tech when upsizing load range.

This whole argument about side walls needing to be stiff. They will not be adversely effected running proper pressure for the load. Sidewalls say MAX psi, NOT required psi.

See www.sailuntires.ca/MRT/S637.html.

You really have to drill down to find out the Sailun 637s, now with an ST designation, are really all position tires that can also be used on delivery vehicles and other trucks. I've been told Sailun redesignated the tires ST to get around import regs? According to Sailun's load table, that I can't figure out how to include here, you need only run 45psi for your load requirement which seems very low to me. PM me and I'll email the chart to you.

My sailuns have a load rating of 4400# per tire. With a 5er as light as the op's and 110 psi that thing will bounce down the road. I am right at 17,000# and only run 100 psi. Try 90 and see how it works.

I run my Sailun's at Max. pressure 110 PSI.
I agree with keeping the sidewalls as stiff as possible.
I want all the margin I can get.
Been running 110 PSI for 3 years now.

I run my Sailun's at 90-95 psi with 2500 lbs. max on any axle. I tried 110 psi., but like Brewurown I just got too much bounce with that high pressure. It rides much smoother at the lower pressure.

It's possible that they recommend max pressures due to the lousy track record of the E-rated trailer tires, and don't want to run lower pressures allowing excessive sidewall flex. A little over compensation perhaps. ๐Ÿ™‚

2800/wheel ???

I like this advise from ;

rvsafety.com

Tire Load and Inflation Ratings

Note: Towable โ€“ Travel Trailer/ 5th Wheel owners Due to the severe use conditions experienced by tires when axles are very close together โ€“ tire industry experts recommend maximum (sidewall) inflation pressure for towable tires unless this causes a sever over-inflation situation (20psi+), often referred to as the โ€˜basketball effectโ€™. If this is your situation allow a 10 โ€“ 15psi safety margin above the minimum required inflation pressure.

The load range G Sailuns have a PSI spec of 110 on the sidewalls. Unless you know the wheel-by-wheel weights of your trailer and use an inflation table from Sailun to adjust the pressures, you should run them at 110 PSI. Anything lower increases sidewall flex and temperatures - which increase the chances of failure.

I ran mine at 85 when I had 2500# per wheel load. You said you had 2800# load so 80-90 you should be fine.

Email Sailun and get a chart.

I have the same 5er as you and I run my Sailuns at 90 psi. I tried higher pressures but the camper bounced to much. I have not had any problems with the tires.
