Tires

I have a 2008 3912 Cyclone Toy Hauler. The original tires were Goodyear 225 75 15. I made the mistake of replacing them with "china bombs" E rated. I don't seem to be able to locate a brand in that size that has a G load rating which is what I believe I need. Suggestions??

I had 15s on my tri axle winners circle but after having 2 blowouts on one trip stepped up to 16s with Maxxis tires. Found 16" 6lug rims new on ebay for $45 apiece. Have 12 altogether on both RVs and 2 spares.

It's all about the bottom line of the manufacturer. They use the cheapest tires they can find, most of which are barely up to the task (load rating)

I always recommend tires and wheels that will support the entire trailer GVWR.

My 2006 Raptor 3612 had 15" too. I put Maxxis E rated on them in 2007 or 2008 shortly after we moved to MT. Sold the TH 4yrs ago and the current owners still have the Maxxis tires. They've held up well. I never did cover them and the TH sat outside in Montana. I towed at 65-70mph and always monitored the pressure. I'd consider Maxxis again based on my experience, but if I had the clearance I would choose to upgrade to 16".

Good luck. One blown tire can effect the other and your tire skirt, which is the last thing you want when you heading out to relax in your Cyclone!!

There are a few LT235-75-15D rated tires available. I have replaced the ST225-75-15D with these.

Yeah his problem is a tire quality issue not a capacity issue. A 16500 lb trailer with six tires = a 2750 lb per tire requirement. Now subtract approx 3300 lbs for a pin weight and his requirement drops to 2200-2300 lbs per tire minimum.

Any of the LT235/85-16 E or LT245/75-16 E both at 3042 lbs capcity will give him 18250 lbs of total capacity and much better tire reliability.

The best LT235/85-16 E tires out here will be the Michelin XPS Rib or the Bridgestone R-250 both being a commercial grade all steel ply carcass tire.

We also have some very good fabric carcass LT tires such as the Firestone Transforce HT mentioned.
Others that we use are the BFG Commercial T/A2 that replaced the Commercial T/A.
The Goodyear Wrangler HT
The Cooper Discoverer HT3
The Bridgestone M895 which is very popular on haulers websites I frequent.

I sure wouldn't put another any ST tire brand back on a trailer that size.

Also the Sailun S637 have been getting some very good reviews over the last few years. Going to probably pick up a set here pretty soon for my trailer.

U gotta step up to 16's to not have issues.
