Generator Bargain

Amazon is advertising a Champion 3100 Inverter with remote starter for $595 with free shipping. Anyone thinking about a genny, this is a killer deal. I bought one last year and it is a great generator. For $595 I'm thinking of buying a second one. It runs my 15000 AC with no problem.

Looks like the sale is over. Amazon now has it priced at $775.

108 lbs to some maybe too much to handle but if you lift it and buck it like a bale of hay and use you leg to help lift it it should be a piece of cake.

2 Hondas 2000's, $2,000.00
1 Champion 3100, $600.00

Either will run a 13,500 btu AC and a little more.

This is not the parallel capable version, so if you care about that, just a warning. It's a bit heavier than the recoil start version because of the battery and starter. I got one (of the lighter and parallel capable versions) for a similar price from Costco this spring. I just finished breaking it in. It isn't quite as quiet as a 2000 Honda, but it's reasonably quiet, has a 30A RV socket as well as a 20A GFCI duplex socket, and a 12V power socket, is easy to use, and isn't too bad to move around for the size. It does have kind of a small fuel tank, but that's ok with me. I don't plan to run it more than an hour or two at a time.
It does a nice job of starting my AC system even in Eco mode, and I don't have to worry about powering everything else down in the trailer when trying to charge batteries.

It's pretty heavy but with the wheels and handle, it's not too bad to handle. For me it's a struggle to lift it into the bed of my truck, but usually there is always someone around to help. Unfortunately it's a little too big to fit into the storage compartment in my new 5er. I wish it would because I could use the extra pin weight. You can't really compare it fairly to the Honda 2000. It takes 2 of them to run my AC and they are expensive (times 2). To me, it's a great unit that is powerful enough to do the job and is very affordable. The remote start is great (I don't have to go outside in my P-Js to turn it on or off).

Oh yea! I've seen that one before talked about on these forums. First time I saw one like that (photos), I though it was a new tear drop style camper. Of course, at the time, it was the only thing in the photo, and nothing to compare the size. So it looked like a camper, or a 2 wheeled type small travel trailer.

That thing sure is cute as a button though. But I've got a decent genny. Don't need another one.... yet!

Thats the one with two wheel and folding pull handles...

Might even fit in the storage bay...

It not much of a bigger footprint as the Honda 2KW EU20001 generator... Probably still would take two folks to man handle it around I suspect..
