If you can afford a 50k+ RV, do your fellow travelers a favor and spring for a appropriate generator. A 3000w contractor gen belongs on a job site not with your RV. Casino RV overnight parking area. Spaces very close together. These fine folks had a very nice fifth wheel, looked like they were staying awhile. Had a nice little pet corral set up three feet into the next space. Ran their gen till 10:30 last night and started again at 7:30 this morning. Felt sorry for their neighbors. We were 5 slots down and had to keep windows closed.

No, not a tire iron, or a golf club.

A steam iron.

The guy brought a steam iron to a knife fight!!! 🙂

Yup, sometimes you just have to confront intolerable oafs. Usually a little public shaming is just what’s needed to stop bad behavior.

Be aware though, that if you do it enough times, the odds will eventually catch up with you and you’ll be forced to defend yourself. That’s why I always recommend carrying an iron when calling out a loud mouth.

No, not a tire iron, or a golf club.

A steam iron.

First, it’s visually confusing to the person you’re confronting and puts them off their game. (“WTH. Why’s he carrying that steam iron???)

Second, nobody will be able to accuse you of brandishing a weapon. (It’s just a steam iron. I guess he was in the middle of doing laundry?)

Third, if worst comes to worst..... have you ever been hit in the head with one of those things? :E

Dam that hurts! :M

Everyone should do it at all times. Failure to do so is giving tacit permission for the bad behavior which will only get worse as time goes on.

Just like clockwork every year. Instead of talking to the offender direct like a man they hide behind the computer screen and complain to people who can do absolutely nothing about it.

This isn't about a generator, which I would have done something about anyway, but far worse were the people camped next to my church group of over 50 people with children who could hear the loud yelling every other word using 'the effing this' 'effing that'. I put a stop to it. Yes, it was 1:30 in the am when they threatened me for being polite about mentioning quiet times. One guy actually came at me. I knew he was bluffing and by mentioned my attorney he backed off quite well. I think the higher up was more behind that scene than any other powers that be.

Was a wonderful feeling knowing I had done good when all was quiet after that. Those people needed to be told that they shouldn't swear in front of their own young children let alone the church group. That is what got the one guy so mad. I could tell they were the types to see just how far they could try getting away with their bad behavior. I was glad to help them with that.:)
But you stood up to them like a man.

Judge lest ye be judged. Why is it so many of you can't wait to jump on these threads and start bashing?

I think people jump on these threads because they are not out camping to be hearing a generator run all day! As for health issues like a cpap machine which can be run with a solar panel and a inverter instead of a 5k open frame generator goes back to people trying to be good neighbors and find a way to to meet their needs while not disturbing a whole campground!

I don't people are being rude on purpose. They are just focused on themselves and clueless. We were just making plans for the summer. We will do no camping in July and August at any campgrounds.

I agree that SOME people are either clueless or rude but the accusations and judgements without knowing facts is out of control. NO ONE here has any clue as to why the "offenders" ran the generator so long. The piling on to one-up the last guy is offensive. We are considering getting back into the lifestyle but God forbid one of us farts too loud-someone will be offended. Yes, I've made posts regarding things like noise and light that bothered me but EVERY time I've just sucked it up and dealt with it. Should I have to? No, but life is too short to hang on to these things.

I understand, but a question. What do you guys do when it's 100 degrees plus outside all day and 90 at night? We have a 2400 dollar Yamaha generator and it quit for a generator. After reading blog after blog of generator complaints we decided not to use except in emergencies and just stay in resorts with full hookups.
G.H.
