New LiFePo tech?

Groover

I noticed several companies are now listing 300+Ah LiFePo batteries in the same size housing and and just a few more pounds than the 200Ah versions. It seems to be so new that no reviews have come in yet that I can find. If anyone can find some reviews on these batteries I would like to see them.

The one that I like best is the Flypower since it is rated for 320A continuously with 640A 3-5sec. I don't think that I would ever need that much but I like having the extra head room.

That one battery would fit in the space of just 3 of my 4 GC2 batteries, give me about 3 times as much energy storage and reduce my weight by around 180lbs. The also claim 1C or 320A charging ability so lots of headroom there too.

The ratings on their batteries that have been out a while seem to be very good.

Steve,

I don't know if the 270 amp-hour can do 2.7 time the continuous discharge of the 100 amp-hour.

Steve,

The 100 amp-hour SiO2 can do 240 amps continuous--but that would drain it pretty darn fast.

I believe the 2500 amps would only be useful with say starting a motor. I can't imagine how a house bank could ever have that high a surge.

ok thanks, I couldnt find that anywhere on the one you were posting for. Probabably simular I would figure. as for the 2500 I dont even know if that would be for a starting motor as that would be an awfull short crank for anything needing that kind of starting power with that low of a storage amount. proabably just a test rating to show it could handle it for an extreamly short periof of time with out dammage.

It was amps for a short burst, not AH. See "C-Rates"

Discharges go with temperature too-see the graphs, and something mysterious about "ratios". Also end voltages.

Don't know a scenario where an RVer would care about all that, although I got close when I wanted one 100AH batt to run the MW, but didn't care about longer term AH capacity. Had to get a second battery to get more AH. That also reduced the discharge proportion.

Drat! Isn't LFP short for LiFePo4 ?

Yes LFP is short for Lifepo4. He has used LiPhO4 a couple times now and just wondering if it's a new chemistry or something.

Mine is actually LFMP but just call LFP.

I don't understand what you are trying to say here. It sounds like you have confused Ah(Amp hours) with peak amps. They are not the same thing.

Also, I am looking at buying these batteries through Amazon. Even if the seller does scam me Amazon has a great return policy and will make things right.

2500 amps for 5 seconds to start a diesel or provide inverter surge performance sounds pretty good.

you sure thats 2500 A for a discharge current?
just looked it up, thats for 5 seconds, whats the max continuious discharge they dont seam to mention that.

here is a comparason for peoples info if they want to build LiPhO4
cells off ailibaba 280AH for 561.61 CDN plus you would need to spend about 100 bucks on a BMS and 30 bucks on stuff to make a case.

Mac charge voltage 14.6

Charge temp range -5C to 60C

300ah cells are now popping up.

I looked at a deconstruction of a battle born they are using the larger traditional style batteries, but companies are starting to use the prismatic cells now.
