2015 F150

Stopped by the ford dealer today they had 3 2015 F-150s in stock 2 3.5 ecoboost and a 5.0 all xlt trim. I was suprised the payload of the 3.5's was 1920 lbs. 1920 for a standard payload truck they did not have max trailer tow nor the HD payload package either. This is in the equal now of a 250 diesel truck. The trucks werent loaded but not stripped either. Crew cab 6.5 ft bed. Huge flow thru center consol. Heated seats and I like the new 8 inch lcd screen too. And the large in dash screen with back up cam is nice too. Power slide rear window too. Id love to know the payload on a lariat with the HD payload package.....has anyone seen one of those yet?

My 2010 F150 XLT Super Crew 4x4 5.4 Max Tow had 1857lbs for payload.

Nice wheels! Congrats, they sure are nice to drive, and the ECO 3.5 is easily the quickest FEELING full sizer.

I have not been on here in a while. Time for an update on this one.

I ordered the truck mid-December. The dealer could not get me a build date. After three months passed, still not build date, no VIN. Then some reports come out, stating the HD payload package would not be available until July. This was the deal breaker. Built in July, received by mid to late July. Then I cannot tow with it for a month, while I break things in.

Back to the drawing board... Went to the dealer to talk about my options. Keep in mind, the truck I was driving was in need of some expensive repairs.
I test drove a couple trucks, and found one I was pretty happy with.
I ended up with a 2015 XLT, SuperCrew, 6.5' bed, 3.5 EcoBoost. It has more options than the truck I ordered, only missing the HD package. I did get Max Tow, and my payload increased 275lbs. The tow mirrors and extra foot of wheelbase makes parking a little interesting. I am getting used to it. I really do like this truck, cannot wait to get the trailer behind it.

And the dealers usually only stock an XL RegCab 8' bed 5L white with HD payload for the contractors and roofers. Definitely not looking for the Lux market with these. Really good work truck though.

Sounds like Ford is doing some clever marketing to ensure the F150 won't steal sales from the more profitable F250 by offering the HD payload pkg in base trucks only. Thats also likely how many of them sell anyway.

2015 RegCab 4x2 5LV8 HD rear axle GAWR is 4800#
Min Base rear axle curb weight can be 1843#

Dont get excited on the HD Payload. It is worse than it was before in terms of the truck you can get it on.

I like loaded trucks, 2014 and earler, a lariat LOADED could get the HD Payload. Not anymore. The minute you select ANYTHING above a stripped Lariat... and I mean STRIPPED, the HD Payload Package cannot be ordered.

I need payoad for my trailer, but as a daily driver, I'd like better economy and a beter ride. The F150 woudl be perfect with the HD Payload, but I will not go stripped,and besides, a loaded Lariat with all the bells and whistles is almost $65,000. A loaded F350 with a gasser is barely $60,000. Granted, some of the new F150 options are sweet, but not for that kind of money. It really irritates me to find that Ford has their own Ideas of what kind of trim level truck you can haul with. If I am spending $65,000, it better haul what I want in luxury, or I dont need it.

The HD Payload axles with 18" wheels are still rated at 4800# GAWR, as before. So there's now even less chance of rear GAWR limitation before running out of GVWR.

Somehow they've come up with 6 lug HD 18" wheels for those 4800# rear axles. Not sure why they didn't do this earlier.

The 17" steel wheels with the HD Payload option reduce the max payload by 200-300#; but dunno if they come with the 4800# GAWR.
