DW's 1st vehicle was a 69 F350,360, 4sp she bought while still at home to pull her horse trailer around.
That was in 72.
After sleeping in her horse trailer while camping she bought an El Dorado 8ft truck camper to be more comfy while camping.
A few years later she was smitten by a fellow trail rider( lucky me:D) and when we married we kept the best truck, best horse trailer and the nicest camper.
We sold my Truck, horse trailer, camper and my 2 sport cars, a Triumph TR7 and an Austin Healy 3000.
We used that truck for carrying the camper until 1982 when we bought a 1980 E350 Van and converted it to an Rv.
We kept using that truck until about 1990 when a body mount broke.
We parked it with the idea of restoring it some day.
we decided that some day was not going to happen and we didn't like the idea that it is just going to rot away after being such a good truck.

the guys that came out to pour the slab for the campers new barn wanted to buy both the 2000 F350 and the 69 F250.
We said no to the 2000 but we said good by to the 69. It had 106,000
miles and had been pretty much trouble free. We replaced 2 starters , one at a Koa in Green River,Utah.
We had to have the rear spring pack replaced. The rear end was drooping.
We added air horns,an electronic ignition, 2 additional gas tanks, a 2nd battery under the hood and replaced the split rim 16s with 16.5s with 12in wide tires on the rear.
All the tack and hay plus 2 horses were carried in or on the 2 horse trailer but the water for the horses was carried in the camper and that truck had a gvw of about 7000lbs. We asked a lot of it and it delivered.
And now it gets a chance at being on the road again instead of just sitting here rusting.

Awwwww.... that story really makes me miss my old 74 F350 Supercab "Bessie", she is still hauling a camper around, but in Mexico now! ,,and my 77 F250, "Burt"..... He's in New Zealand now being pampered. No more truck camper for him! Both GREAT trucks for many many years!

It's tough letting go of a good truck. But, you did the best thing. Hopefully it gets restored as a collector's truck and enjoys a long life in retirement.
