I've wanted a slide topper awning for a long time. It's taken my 9.5 years to finally decide to do it.

that shows how I did it.It's not a terribly difficult project, it's just time consuming. I worked on it several evenings after work, and one morning before work.
I had my local Northwood dealer order the awning from the factory and ship it up to them in a new unit being delivered from the factory to the dealer to avoid paying freight on such a large item.
During the process of installing it, I also upgraded to stainless steel screws on the roof trim:
