I must be having mid-life crisis, but I saw a 201X Chevrolet 1 ton dually Diesel and I plan on investigating further on the specs and options.
What opinion do you all have on comfort, towing capacity, MPGS and reliability. All I need now is the gorgeous young gal, but my lotus blossom said that is not an option.

thank you

Do whatever floats your boat. I was a Ford guy since I was old enough to drive (I'm 61 now) and made the switch to Ram 2 years ago. No regrets at all. I looked for deals on GM trucks but nothing around here at all. GM sells 1/2 of what Ram does in the diesel versions and Ford sells 2x+ as many SD diesels as Ram does. Makes it hard to get a good deal when GM's are far and few where I live. Can't hardly find a used Dmax that's only a couple years old.
IMO all 3 make great trucks. Each has it's quirks but in the end it's just a matter of personal taste. Not every butt is the same so the one that fits right is the one to get.

Personally I think you will end up regretting such a decision. 20% more moving parts, higher RPM moving the load down the road that is all on top of such a genearic looking package

You need to look at the horsepower curves for the 2014 Duramax and the 2014 6.7 Cummins.

They are very close and the Duramax torque curve is flatter than the Cummins.

Both have very close in horsepower numbers at rpms less than 2500.

Donno: I value your opinion very much, but what I saw just knocked my socks off. There is nothing wrong with my Dodge its been a great vehicle. I just can't resist the temptation of new toys.

I really can't imagine not buying a truck (or any other item, really) that I liked because it was a specific brand. Makes no sense to me. Do companies pay some of you to drive their stuff? They don't pay me, so I buy what I like and want to own ...

The GMs are great trucks. I bet the Silverado rides very nice, has smooth power, and the best transmission in the business.

It won't have the room of your Megacab, though, that's for sure. About the only thing I didn't like about my '06 was the size of the rear seat -- it could have used a few more inches of leg room.

Good luck!

My opinion is to buy the truck you like the best. Or get the best deal. It has worked for me most of the time.

Nothing wrong with a new Duramax, but you should test drive all of them if you're looking to go to something different. I went from an 07 Ram (same as your 08 truck wise, just a different engine/trans) to a 2014 and they are so different it's like it's made by a different manufacturer.

The 2014 is a much nicer truck, with much higher build quality.

I have seen the new GMs at the railyard. Big thing I notice is what I believe is the DEF tank. Looks like a box under the passenger door. I believe this to be the DEF tank because I have only seen it on the duramax.

A Megacab with the regular 8' bed conversion is NICE!!! I believe that is the last year that the pickups were under Dodge, as they went under the Ram Truck name sometime in 2009 I believe. Just curious, what is broken on your exhaust though?

Your current truck will be very desirable - 8' bed on a Megacab.
