We're getting ready to purchase a Jayco TT 24FBS and DW wanted to know if it's possible to use it with the slide retracted. Can we get to the bathroom without opening the slide? Are there any other issues we should know about. Thank you in advanced for your input.

Agree on getting to the bathroom or kitchen....short of climbing over the countertop or dinette OR opening the slide just enough.

Sounds like a decent price, but you could try to get your propane tanks filled and/or maybe the starter package thrown in. The starter package will have the hose for dumping, maybe some fancy RV toilet paper and a few other odds and ends that you'll end up needing anyway. They are not top of the line quality, but will get you started and then you can see what you really need.

Assume you've already discussed the WDH with sway....if not, call them NOW. You'll be in for around $500 give or take for a good quality one. Don't go the el cheapo on this! Brake controller will be a bit over $100 - suggest Prodigy. A GOOD set of x-chocks, as in BAL brand. We bought some look-alikes at CW for our HTT and got several years out of them, but the BAL we bought this year are far and away better....ebay with free shipping. Might want some of the Lynx levelers...you may never need them, but OTOH, you may need them most of the time, so good to have stowed. Some version of black tank chemicals - suggest NOT the blue stuff. We have used Odorlos for years with complete satisfaction, but the Geo System is common household ingredients and very cost effective. We're going to try it next season. Instructions are online. Re the fancy RV TP, don't waste your money. The cheapie single ply works perfectly well. Take a couple sheets of whatever you have around, put it in a jar with water, seal and shake. If it dissolves in a short time, you're good to use that. Put together an assortment of basic tools - screwdrivers, pliers, misc because sooner or later you'll need them. Usually sooner just to tighten some screws, etc. You can invest in a good RV mat now or ask Santa for one....suggest you not go for the grass carpet type as it is heavy as lead when wet and water does not drain through, a mess to handle and gets icky pretty soon. You can find good mats at CW for around $50 or check online....prices range. Suggest you not go with the look-alike ones from WM as they have had some negative reviews about coming apart pretty quickly. That's just a start. once you've seen how you camp and what your needs are, you can add. One requirement.....if you have an electric tongue jack, make sure you have some extra fuses...in fact extras for all....experience is the best teacher and you only miss this one ONE time. If you don't have an electric tongue jack, put that on Santa's list....around $100 on ebay, free shipping and maybe 30 min to install. Makes like wonderful and saves the arm. You can use a cordless drill for your stabilizers, but have the torque turned down...lots easier than hand cranking. Happy Camping!

Forgot....do invest in a good water pressure regulator and an electric power supply thingy....somebody tell me what that's called, but you do need both for the safety of your traler.

Truthfully, at that price none.

Thanks for the response. We will be buying a 2015 model and I think I,m getting a great deal, we'll see tomorrow when we firm things up. We're getting Jayco's Elite & Glacier package. No trade in, going to be around $ 17,600. What kind of add on costs should I expect to come up in the negotiations?

First off, NO, you cannot get to the bath with the slide in. You can open it about 1-1/2 to 2 ft and get by. For us, this has never been an issue in the almost 5 yrs we have owned ours.

What year are you looking to buy, new or used. That would make answering the "any other issues" question easier!!

Ours has never had any problems or issues, been one of the best trailers we have owned. We tow mostly into Nat Forests and the "boonies", and the unit has held up very well.
