On the upside, your truck has the 3rd shock. It looks like a competent design to reduce axle hop in low traction situations.

That airbag install looks kinda suspect too.

Look in front of the airbags. You'll find the missing shocks there!

The center shock you're describing is essentially a traction bar to control wheel hop or rotation of the differential. Ram calls it a power hop dampener or something.

If your truck doesn't have rear shocks someone stole em and it would bounce like a rubber ball.
