I've always loved the clearance on my 2011 Nash 27T, but this year found out how important that is.

I had the same tires since I purchased (so they were 6-7 yrs old, which is the max most on here say a tire will last, and I should have changed them out (my bad-I was at least thinking about it :)).

I had three blow outs during our long trip, two of them happened at high speed on interstates, and there is not one lick of damage to our trailer. Tore a portion of the undercarriage fabric, but nothing of what I've seen on lower profile trailers when they blow.

Consider the height! Or at least change your tires earlier than I did!! 🙂

YUP! We have one. Built tough too. Sheared off the wheel bolts in Scranton this summer. Have since found out that the wheels were not center loaded and replaced them. My sister lives at Endicott. Bring me some Cider Donuts, I'm about out.

It't possible I was just "lucky," but 3 times suggests otherwise, though 1 of those was slow speed. It could also have been the way the tires went, and the fact that they were 7 yrs old, which meant they didn't have much in the way of substance to do much damage. Still I think its well made and that helps when something goes awry.

That was my point. Just a matter of luck as to the circumstances and the amount of damage to the trailers. The original poster was very, very, lucky and even after pressing his luck with 3 blow outs. I would have went right out and purchased some lotto tickets. 🙂

When my Carlisles blew, it was really just a matter of luck which way they went. If they had blown upward even a foot of clearance wouldn't have made any difference.

I don't know what height off the ground has anything to do with it. There is only 2-3/4" of clearance between the top of the tire and the wheel well on my 2016 Arctic Fox TT. I hesitate to think of the damage that would occur should a tire blow.

That extra height that the Northwood and Outdoors RV Group has is great for long term durability..............in my opinion anyway
