Paint protection

Anyone know about the PLATINUM ULTIMATE PLUS (ECP)for the paint and interior? Is it worth the money or a waste as most other things.

Save your money. Just wash and wax your trailer a couple times a year.

If you want bright and shiny, the coating is supposed to give it to you longer. However nobody can say how much longer. Hence, most folks view it as just an expensive coat of wax.

Now if the coating sealed screw holes and metal seams for any length of time, one might consider it.

Oh!!!! After reading the other posts, if I understand it now, you are talking about that paint protection stuff that apply over the paint and probably includes fabric protection inside the camper. Oh yes, I understand now!

Skip it! It's worthless. We had it done to our first camper, spent a bundle. Found out you can get 3M Scotch Guard and spray your cushions on the dinette yourself and get better protection against spills and stuff.

On the paint, it lasted about 1 year and then the surface of the camper (outside) began to get a bit harder to clean, black steaks got harder to clean off, and it simply did not hold up for the promised 3 years. I think it was a joke. Definitely, it was wasted money.

It didn't take long to figure out, a good coat of wax worked better and lasted longer.

1st off they're not painted. It's gel coat on the exterior. And yes a waste.
There's a thread right now on the Grand Design forum about a guy that has fading from and exterior finish protectant. Read into whatever you want.

I'd suggest to use a good quality acrylic paint polish like Klasse (or similar) on exterior paint. If you are concerned about staining of the upholstery items, the big box stores sell the newer hydrophobic solutions that shed liquids.

The paint protection product they usually use can be bought at a automotive paint supply house. It used to cost about $30/gal.
If you really want the protection, just buy the goop and spread it on.
But I don't think it does much.

We took a pass on the exterior cover coat. We do not live in the sun belt, the resale value drops like a stone no matter what it looks like.

Like anything else, it is a matter on how important it is to you.

Our TT is seven years old, it is parked under a shade tree, so the decals and paint are not faded. But with 30,000 miles in four years it does pick up a fair amount of road grime. It gets a bath about twice a season.
