Yeah, I thought this was aout bearings.
Believe what you want to, but fact is most any bearing is lifetime, if its kept clean and greased. And if its not, even the hi $ bearings will soon be junk.

$27 for a Timkin grease seal?

I paid $24 for National “oil bath” US Made seals and they are a much more complicated item than a grease seal.

I've been running the same stock cheapo bearings my trailer came with. In 6 years I've repacked the bearings twice and they still look like new. This past repacking I was looking for new inner seals and the Timkins were $29 each. I bought the cheapo style that came with my trailer for $7 each, which have been working just fine for 6 years. My point is I know Timkin is a great bearing but it seams the cheapo stuff works just as well. At least in my case.

I've not seen a MOOG bearing in the common trailer sizes, can you provide a link to the source?

Moog reputation really went downhill for the truck suspension and steering components. They used to get recommended on truck forums and now people talk very poorly.

"just my opinion most bearing problems are the installers fault."

Truer words have never been spoken. Whether the installers are at the factory, or working in their back yard. Seems like a lot of times when people say they are having bearing problems, it's right after a trip to the shop.

Most, not all, just most.

timken even though some are made in there plant oversea,s, there made too specs. I,ve towed plenty of miles pulling boats that get wet more than most. never had a bearing problem with timken. just my opinion most bearing problems are the installers fault.

quick search -
Where are MOOG parts manufactured?
Moog is not the part manufacturer, but rather a parts distributor. They probably have 2 lines with one made in Japan, and the other line made in Mexico/China. The Japan made parts by Moog are actually the 5 star brand. The Mexico made parts are just unbranded.
