So I thought that campground was 1st come 1st served but I guess not. My question is they have availability todsy on NP website dsys open. So if someone doesn't show we can take a chance and go there hoping a site is open? A little confusing. Thanks ??

Our favorite Forest Service CG here in Va. has gone this route also, there are 3 loops, one is for small RV's, like Pop ups, tear drops, and tents, one has always been open for reservations and one always been for first come first serve, after being closed since Covid started, the FCFS loop is now open for reservations also.

It was a very recent change, so it's not a big surprise that you didn't know about it earlier. Sounds like they intend for it to be a permanent change - but of course, it never hurts to check periodically!

It's always been first come, first served. Has that changed recently?

**Correction, I just checked the website and it is now reservation only 5/1 - 10/15. Hmmm. May be due to the influx of campers now.

Because this is a new policy there, I would email them since no phone number is listed - YELL_Information@nps.gov
