Best 5W Hitch for short bed pickup - 5.5' or 6.5' bed

Is there a good 5W hitch for a 5.5' or 6.5' bed PU, pulling about 10,000 lbs? I'm in the truck shopping phase, and the truck is mostly going to pull our small seasonal travel trailer (questions about that later), but would also like it to pull our 10,000 lbs 32' 5W to a new park when we infrequently change permanent parks.

I'm clear on towing capacities, payload and combined weight capacities - just beginning to explore the 5W Hitch side of things.

I'm using an Andersen in my short bed (6.75') and have no clearance issues. The pin clears the bed rails and I can make almost a 90 degree turn before getting dangerously close to the cab.

It would appear to me to go one step at a time. Truck before the hitch. :h

For the cost of a 5th wheel receiver and a truck with the capability to do it, just pay for that service if it truly is that infrequent. I've never seen a truck with 55' ed that has 2500+ pounds of payload to handle that. That's into 3/4 ton truck territory and it does not sound like you need that capability for other reasons.

If you are considering a 1/2 ton truck, the Andersen hitch would be an obvious choice. In this case, I'd use the Andersen for rails.

You don't give enough info on truck choices, to get proper advice. A 5.5 bed would have very limited options.

I personally wouldn't get a 5.5 foot bed if towing a fifth wheel. That being said, look at the Anderson ultimate hitch. Only 35 pounds and attaches to the gooseneck ball. Easy to take out and have completely flat bed when done.
