Television Question

Whenever I am connected to campground cable, the outside edges of the picture are cut off. The image fills the whole screen but the edges of the transmission are off screen for example, heads cut off.

Changing the picture mode or aspect ratio does nothing to help. This happens on two different brands of flat screen and also happened on my older picture tube type tv.

Does anyone have an idea if this is correctable or how? Again, it is only when using a cable system. OTA, satellite, and dvd are all fine.

Thanks

Check the settings on yoru "ZOOM" or PICTURE SIZW

That's common when ATSC is converted to NTSC (HDTV to SDTV)

NOTE: You might not be able to fix it. it might NOT be your problem.

It has happened in every campground with cable.

Is this happening at other campgrounds or only at the one where you are now? If it does not happen in other places it is definitely the cable providers settings.

It happened with the old 100 lb. Sonys that were in this 2006 coach originally.
It happens on the LG flat screen I put in the bedroom last year and it happens with the Hitachi that I placed above the dash this year.

I haven't gotten any information from neighbors that sounded definitive.

It seems to happen on every channel and every time we are hooked up to cable. Directv and OTA work perfectly. The picture is good but it cuts off the edges, for example the temperature box in the bottom corner on a weather forecast.

This is why I'm scratching my head.

Sounds like the campground cable receiver/transmitter is set at the wrong ratio.

TV manufacturers, satellite providers, cable companies and TV stations have never come to a standard that makes sense. The government pushed digital on us without giving a thought about this issue.

Is it on all stations all the time? Some stations appear to enlarge the image to better fit the larger screens and as a result go too far. Not limited to park cable. Not much you can do about it. Except perhaps switch back and forth between picture sizes and that may not work anyway.

It happens on an old school picture tube with 4:3 aspect ratio?
