volt meter question

I installed one of these volt meters on my kayak modification and liked it so much I ordered one for the travel trailer.

The meter is waterproof ( hopefully ) so I could install it on or close to the battery box outside. I was also thinking of putting it inside close to the " fake " meter panel that shows battery, tanks etc.

Is one place better than the other?

You can install it anywhere Even 100 feet of small wire (Say 22ga) will not affect the meter reading the only thing that will cause it to give a flase reading is hooking to some point OTHER than the battery terminals.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Very true. I have installed switches to turn my meters on or off.

I installed a dc voltmeter, a dc ammeter and an ac volt-ammeter in the panel with the water heater switch and the generator control. I also put a switch to select either the battery voltage or the converter voltage. Happened to be an available place. Comes in very handy.

Don't be a slave to it. Batteries need rest to show accurate voltage and seldom is an in use RV resting its batteries.

Seems like a personal choice. Mine ended up inside, near the monitor panel. Most of the power I use will be controlled from the inside, and if needed, I start the generator from the same location. I also put it in series with this switch which matched the switches in the monitor.
